Becky Spencer, Holistic Health Coach

My Training:

After many, many years of reading everything I could get my hands on in regards to nutrition, health, wellness and spirituality, I finally decided to make it official and become a certified Health Coach.

I received my training as a Health Coach from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition’s cutting-edge Health Coach Training Program. During my training, I studied over 100 dietary theories, practical lifestyle management techniques, and innovative coaching methods with some of the world’s top health and wellness experts. My education has equipped me with extensive knowledge in holistic nutrition, health coaching, and preventive health.

My teachers included Dr. Andrew Weil, Director of the Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine; Dr. Deepak Chopra, leader in the field of mind-body medicine; Dr. David Katz, Director of Yale University’s Prevention Research Center; Dr. Walter Willett, Chair of Nutrition at Harvard University; Geneen Roth, bestselling author and expert on emotional eating; and many other leading researchers and nutrition authorities.

In 2017, I realized I needed to dig deeper. I enrolled in the School of Applied Functional Medicine to be able to offer my clients a functional medicine approach to get to the root cause of their “dis-ease”. With functional medicine, you are able to get relief and lasting results faster. I am currently in the second semester and will acquire my full certification at the end of this year.

I have been facilitating a women’s empowerment group for over two years. I coach the women to get more in touch with themselves using a variety of modalities so that they may become more aware of what they need to be their best selves. We look at spirituality, numerology, food/wellness, self-care, how our thoughts can lead to illness and so much more.

My Approach: 

As a Health Coach, I create a supportive environment that will enable you to achieve all of your health goals. I practice a holistic approach to health and wellness, which means that I look at how all areas of your life are connected. Does stress at your job or in your relationship cause you to overeat? Does lack of sleep or low energy prevent you from exercising? Are you missing key nutrients due to poor digestion? As we work together, we will look at how all parts of your life affect your health as a whole.

The world of nutrition and health can be very confusing and overwhelming these days. My approach is not to dwell on calories, carbs, fats, and proteins. It is not to create lists of restrictions or good and bad foods. Instead, I work with my clients to create a happy, healthy life in a way that is flexible, fun and rewarding.

Together we’ll work to reach your health goals in areas such as reducing stress, increasing sleep, minimizing pain and maximizing energy. As we work together, you’ll develop a deeper understanding of the food and lifestyle choices that work best for you and implement lasting changes that will improve your energy, balance and health.

Here are some concepts that we will explore during our work together:

Bio-individuality™:  

The concept of bio-individuality is that each person has unique food and lifestyle needs. One person’s food is another person’s poison, and that’s why fad diets tend to fail in the long run. Working on the principle of bio-individuality, I’ll support you to make positive changes that are based on your unique needs, lifestyle, preferences, and ancestral background. I use a personalized, holistic approach to ensure that you will have great success!

Primary Food™:  

It’s easy to overlook all of the things that contribute to our sense of nourishment and fulfillment. It’s not just the food we eat, but all of the other factors present in our daily lives. Healthy relationships, a fulfilling career, regular physical activity and a spiritual awareness are essential forms of nourishment. When these “primary foods” are balanced, what you eat becomes secondary. I will support you in achieving all of your goals, from eating the right foods for your body to living an inspired, fulfilling life.
